For Those Who View Israel as the Bad Guy

The Palestinian death count is high today (May 14, 2018) as many of their numbers lost their lives rioting over the opening of the American Embassy in Jerusalem. It was to be expected.

embassyIt is interesting to note readers’ comments at the bottom of website news stories. The anti-Semitic vitriol flows like a river overwhelming its banks, its stench inundating the nostrils of rational thinkers. To them, of course Israel is the bad guy, bullying their oppressed neighbors mercilessly and with great savagery.

Well, enough of that! No need to advertise my support for Israel and hence display my ignorance. Rather, for those who view Israel as the bad guy, let’s look at a couple of documents and quotes by those angelic victims of Israel’s “cruelty.” Granted, quite a few of these proclamations have been amended over the years, but hardly anyone in the know is buying it. Attitude-wise, nothing is changed (emphasis added).

The Palestinian Charter

  • Article 22 from the infamous PLO Charter of 1964 states: “Zionism [Israel, the Jewish state] is a political movement organically associated with international imperialism and antagonistic to all action for liberation and to progressive movements in the world. It is racist and fanatic in its nature, aggressive, expansionist, and colonial in its aims, and fascist in its methods. … Since the liberation of Palestine will destroy the Zionist and imperialist presence and will contribute to the establishment of peace in the Middle East, the Palestinian people look for the support of all the progressive and peaceful forces and urge them all, irrespective of their affiliations and beliefs, to offer the Palestinian people all aid and support in their just struggle for the liberation of their homeland.”
  • Article 9: “Armed struggle is the only way to liberate Palestine and is therefore a strategy and not a tactic. The Palestinian Arab people affirms its absolute resolution and abiding determination to pursue the armed struggle and to march forward towards the armed popular revolution, to liberate its homeland and restore its right to a natural life, and to exercise its right of self-determination and national sovereignty.”

Article 10: “Fedaeyeen’s [freedom fighters] action forms the nucleus of the popular Palestinian war of liberation. This requires its promotion, extension and protection, and the mobilization of all the Arab and Palestinian masses and scientific capacities of the Palestinians, their organization and involvement in the armed Palestinian revolution to ensure the continuation of the revolution, its advancement and victory.”[1]

The Fatah Constitution

  • Article 4: “The Palestinian struggle is part and parcel of the world-wide struggle against Zionism, colonialism and international imperialism.”
  • Article 5: “Liberating Palestine is a national obligation which necessitates the materialistic and human support of the Arab Nation.”
  • Article 7: “The Zionist Movement is racial, colonial and aggressive in ideology, goals, organisation and method.
  • Article 8: “The Israeli existence in Palestine is a Zionist invasion with a colonial expansive base, and it is a natural ally to colonialism and international imperialism.”
  • Article 12: “Complete liberation of Palestine, and eradication of Zionist economic, political, military and cultural existence.
  • Article 17: “Armed public revolution is the inevitable method to liberating Palestine.”
  • Article 19: “Armed struggle is a strategy and not a tactic, and the Palestinian Arab People’s armed revolution is a decisive factor in the liberation fight and in uprooting the Zionist existence, and this struggle will not cease unless the Zionist state is demolished and Palestine is completely liberated.”
  • Article 22: “Opposing any political solution offered as an alternative to demolishing the Zionist occupation in Palestine, as well as any project intended to liquidate the Palestinian case or impose any international mandate on its people.”[2]

Quotes by powerful Hamas Political Leader Ismail Haniyeh

  • December 8, 2006: “We will never recognize the usurper Zionist government and
    hamas troops

    Hamas troops

will continue our jihad-like movement until the liberation of Jerusalem.”

  • December 14, 2010: “Palestine is from the sea to the river, from Rosh HaNikra to Rafah. The siege will not change our belief, wars don’t cause people to give up resistance and resistance leaders. We will not recognize! We will not recognize! We will not recognize Israel!
  • September 18, 2011: “We repeat today that we are with the establishment of a Palestinian state on any liberated part of Palestinian land that is agreed upon by the Palestinian people, without recognizing Israel or conceding any inch of historical Palestine.”
  • December 14, 2011: “The Hamas movement will lead Intifada after Intifada until we liberate Palestine – all of Palestine, Allah willing.”
  • February 12, 2012: “The resistance will continue until all Palestinian land, including al-Quds [Jerusalem], has been liberated and all the refugees have returned.”
  • From the same speech: “The gun is our only response to [the] Zionist regime. In time we have come to understand that we can obtain our goals only through fighting and armed resistance and no compromise should be made with the enemy.”
  • October 19, 2013: “Thousands of fighters above ground and thousands of fighters underground have been preparing in silence for the campaign to liberate Palestine.”
  • January 13, 2014: “This is a generation which knows no fear. It is the generation of the missile, the tunnel and suicide operations.”[3]

And yet, the majority of people who follow Middle East events view Israel as the bad guy? Really?
