All Bible verses must be viewed within the context in which they are written.

Sometimes, however, a verse is so powerful, so luminous, and so exhilarating it requires little to no explanation. Sometimes a verse is so rich in truth, so joyous in implication, and so eloquent in expression it can elevate the believer to a level of joy and hope that can eclipse all fears, concerns, and heartaches – at least momentarily.

The verse is Habakkuk 2:14: “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”

This verse most likely refers to the coming Millennium Kingdom, when Christ will rule over the Earth for 1,000 years, and certainly refers to eternity.

Rather than explore the verse as I usually do, I only ask you to reflect upon it for 2 or 3 minutes. Simply think about the world we now live in – wherever those thoughts may bring you – and then try to envision a world where all inhabitants will have witnessed God’s glory, will be able to comprehend it, and, ultimately, will bask in the majesty of it. I’m not quite sure what that day is going to look like, but I know it will be beyond magnificent.

“For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.”

I can’t wait for this day!
