God is Calling
The short answer to the title is: “The Lord Jesus Christ.”

There is, however, a responsibility on the part of the individual, and that is to confess the name of Christ. Romans 9:10 says: “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Acts 16:31 assures us: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved …”

These are individual promises. The Bible has many of them, as well as national and international promises. Until the day Christ returns, the world will wear itself into a frazzle trying to figure out ways to fix itself. However, the answer is at its fingertips, if only it would heed.

Since the beginning of time, God has been summoning the human race to Himself, and He has never stopped. He has been offering healing – both spiritual and physical – for the entire age of humanity, and He has not rescinded it. It’s still there for the taking.

God is calling, but the majority of Earth’s inhabitants are not listening.

If the citizens of Earth want to end the world’s miseries, God offers a simple way to do it. Here is a sampling of what our Creator requires.

God’s Requirements
“Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces but he will heal us; he has injured us but he will bind up our wounds. … Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth” (Hosea 6:1, 3).

“Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6).

“Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon” (Isaiah 55:7).

“If you return to the Lord, then your fellow Israelites and your children will be shown compassion by their captors and will return to this land, for the Lord your God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to him” (2 Chronicles 30:9).

“Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!” (Isaiah 30:8).

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you – even Jesus (Acts 3:19-20).

“Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded” (James 4:8).

“Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord. Let us lift up our hearts and our hands to God in heaven, and say: ‘We have sinned and rebelled …’” (Lamentations 3:40-41).

“‘Even now,’ declares the Lord, ‘return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.’ Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity” (Joel 2:12-13).

The Lord is freely offering the human race a cure for its miseries; please pray that more and more hearts will be opened to His bountiful generosity.
