‘Digital Dollars’: A Last-Days’ Harbinger?

Cashless Society
The proposal for the U.S.’s massive stimulus package to help ease the financial burden brought on by the coronavirus includes something call “digital dollars” and the establishment of “digital dollar wallets.”[1]

Basically, rather than receiving checks, Americans will set up accounts where the money can be credited to them – but without paper currency which you can hold in your hand. Have you ever heard the term “cashless society?”

This is basically what the digital dollar is – cash without cash. The government, perhaps through a national banking system, will set you up with a special account – not associated with your existing bank account – through which they will credit you with a certain amount of funds. You may then spend those funds IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GUIDELINES THE GOVERNMENT DETERMINES. (Perhaps … food, yes; church-giving, no?)

Of course, being an account the government will have access to, it will be able to monitor how you spend your digital dollars. This is unlike, for instance, IRS refunds which go directly into your checking account; you’re free to spend the refund as you please without the government knowing how you’re spending it (so we believe).

The Ramifications
The “digital dollars” plan may or may not be instituted for the current stimulus package, but eventually the government will create such a system, which, I believe, will be the first step to establishing a cashless society, which, in turn, will be the foundation upon which a one-world government will be built.

Daniel 9:24-27, 11:36-45; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12; and Revelation 13:1-10 speak of the world ruler – the Antichrist – who will come, of whom it is written: “The whole world was filled with wonder and followed the beast [the Antichrist]. People worshiped the dragon [Satan] because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, ‘Who is like the beast? Who can wage war against it?’” (Revelation 13:3-4).

This is where the world is heading, and logic dictates that it won’t happen at once, but in intervals. One of these intervals could well be a worldwide medical crisis such as Covid-19. If governments the world over have been searching for a way to move their citizens closer to a “cashless society,” then the coronavirus has given them the opportunity.

And if this is the crack in the door world leaders need in order to gain more control over the lives of its citizens, then more and more “intervals” will emerge, each one moving us ever closer to the reality which will come to fruition in the Last Days – the final seven years of this age of human history.

An Opportunity
If you are a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, don’t fear: your soul is secure. Rather, view these amazing times in which we live as an ideal opportunity to be bold in faith; to tell people about the Lord Jesus Christ, and that He will establish a kingdom which will be built upon righteousness, holiness, and goodness. Tell people that this evil world is fading away and that a new and glorious kingdom is coming. And all they need do to be a part of it is to “declare with [their] mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in [their] heart that God raised [them] from the dead” (Romans 10:9).

For Christians, things are going to get terribly bad here on Earth, but it will be but for a short time. Following the great tribulation of those final days, things will get wonderfully, unfathomably good, and when they do, it will last for eternity!
