While working from home – and going for many, many walks – I’ve been reacquainting myself with the Orlando neighborhood I’ve lived in for the past 16 years.
Orlando is far more than theme parks (as much as I enjoy them) as these pictures will testify to. Included are several shots of Turkey Lake, an adjoining pier and gazebo, some Spanish moss, a grassy expanse, and a variety of beautiful flowers. Enjoy!

Beautiful! Has summer started yet?! Last year at this time I was packing to move to FL. Time flies and waits for no one!

Thank you so much, Linda. Now it’s your turn. I know your state well as I spent 22-plus years living in Las Cruces (1979-2001). Yes, I’m an NMSU Aggie.

Oops, I hope I was clear on that. I meant that it’s your turn to take some pictures of the Land of Enchantment. I miss the place!

I have taken tons of pictures, since I moved to the Land of Enchantment in 2003. Most of them are on my old computer. Which reminds me, I need to do a backup…
Some of my favorite pictures are of the wild weather we get here in east central New Mexico, where the high high plains and high desert meet. Hail larger than softballs! A supercell hanging over our house that looked like a mothership UFO in size and power — with lightning flashing back and forth inside it! A mesocyclone swirling all around my husband and me, right outside a truck stop!
Some years ago, the weatherman Steve Stucker showed a few of my storm photos on his news broadcast out of Albuquerque, on news channel 4. They were photos I took of a funnel cloud, downed trees, ankle-deep hail as far as the eye could see, and a double rainbow over the mountains east of Belen, where we lived at the time. I got a picture of the end of a huge rainbow, once — the rainbow’s end was in our driveway!! But alas, it didn’t come with a pot of gold.
I’ve gotten away from photography since I started writing my memoir. Someday soon, I hope to pick it up again. It runs in my genes. My dad was a professional photographer. He owned a photography studio and film developing lab, which he named The F Stop. Yeah, my dad was a character!

Would love to see those photos! Once your memoir is finished, of course.

I love all of the photos! Since I can’t go out, these are my virtual way of visiting FL.

Hi studiogirl. Thank you for checking out my photos. I, too, love Universal Studios and am a passholder. I imagine I’ve been there about 100 times beginning in 2001. Glad it’ll soon be re-opening!

It is nice to see something about Orlando besides Disney world. Thank for the gorgeous photos.
