Amid Global Turmoil, Israel Still the Key

Prophecy Played Out
With all that is happening in our own backyards, it is difficult to see the big picture. Here in the U.S., the spirit of Antichrist (1 John 4:1-4) is looming larger by the day.

For students of end-times prophecy, the impact of Covid-19 is so acute that our focus has been intercepted, our attentions reoriented to our own little worlds. This is necessary, but at the same time it doesn’t mean we can’t do two things at once.

And with my focus aimed like a laser on the events happening States-side, two stories on the website Christian Headlines instantly sent my attentions heading back to the Holy Land: “140 French Jews Immigrate to Israel amid Rising Anti-Semitism”.[1] And: “Anti-Christian Acts in France Up 285 Percent Since 2008, Observatory Says”.[2]

Though these stories are France-centered, Anti-Semitism is sharply rising throughout pockets of the world. The significance of this rise is that it is forcing more and more of the global Jewish population to immigrate to Israel. Prophetic Scripture – primarily passages from the Books of Ezekiel and Zechariah – strongly imply that in the Last Days the vast majority of the world’s Jewish population will be located in Israel.

This is precisely what is occurring, as prophecy is being fulfilled before us.

Rising Anti-Semitism
I have written before how I believe God’s prophetic timeclock began ticking in 1948 when Israel was “reborn.” Ever since, her Jewish population has been growing. A milestone was reached in 2013 as for the first time the Jewish population in Israel became the world’s largest (exceeding the U.S.).

Yet, Israel’s Jewish population still has a way to go to reach “dominant” numbers. As of 2019, Israel accounted for 45.3 percent of the world’s Jewish population, followed by the U.S. at 38.8 percent. France is a distant third at 3.1 percent.[3]

I believe sometime soon either a singular event, or a series of smaller events, will cause the world’s Jewish population to rapidly flee their nations to the safety of Israel. It could be the events we are seeing now resulting from Covid-19 – particularly the economic hardship it is causing – that ignites a new rise in Anti-Semitism.

Throughout history, the Jews have been the world’s scapegoat during traumatic times – failing economies, plagues, and war – and they will be again.

At that time, the tiny nation of Israel will have its hands full welcoming several million Jewish immigrants into its land, but she is more than willing. Says Pnina Tamano-Shata, Israel’s Minister of Immigration and Absorption:

“The Jews of Europe and the rest of the world are currently facing complex challenges, and every Jew should know that the gates of this country are still open, even during an emergency or crisis. … The Ministry of Immigration and Absorption will accompany the olim (new immigrants) in their first steps towards integration into Israeli society because only together are we stronger.”[4]

She added “that Israel expects to welcome more than 10,000 immigrants this year,”[5] which will be just a drop in the bucket for what lies ahead.

Where It’s Heading
So, where is all this heading? It’s heading to a time when Israel will be so hated by the world that she will be incapable of defending herself from the plethora of nations seeking to destroy her, especially the Muslim-led nations which surround her and have sought her destruction since her 1948 rebirth.

To save herself, Israel will sign a 7-year pact with a powerful world ruler (Daniel 9:24-27), the Antichrist (Daniel 11:36-39). He will promise Israel peace in return for her allegiance, and she will consent. He will then move his world headquarters to Jerusalem (Daniel 11:45).

But it’s that first step – that 7-year pact – which will be key in determining how close the world is to the Last Days and the return of Christ. That signing of the pact will be the starting point of Daniel’s 70th Week – the final 7 years of this era of human history.

Therefore, despite the global turmoil we are in the midst of, Israel is the key. All of history is heading toward a climactic showdown between the unbelieving residents of Earth and their Creator, and Israel is the key to when that showdown will begin.

May we who love the Lord Jesus be faithful in telling the unsaved about the Savior who came to Earth 2,000 years ago to save them from their sins!
