No Revival Coming

I know many believers are still holding out hope for a revival, but I truly believe we are past that point. Here are a few of Bible passages which lead me to believe this:

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:1-4).

Regarding this passage, I believe we are there. Here’s another:

The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse (Romans 1:18-19).

I believe God’s wrath is being MORE revealed now than ever before.

And here’s the followup to that passage:

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles (Romans 1:21-23).

Certainly no new ground broken here. And yes, these verses have stood for well more than 1,900 years. However, there has to be a point where the cup of humanity’s iniquity runs full and begins spilling over the sides, and I believe we are almost there, and that these verses have just about reached their ultimate fulfillment.

Add to this that I believe God’s prophetic timeclock began ticking when Israel was “reborn” as a nation in 1948 — and that all of her ancient enemies (Iran [Persia]; Iraq [Babylon]; and Syria [Assyria]) have risen as well, and we have all the makings of God’s very-soon coming wrath and the long-awaited return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

And, for the record, I believe 2 Chronicles 7:14 is being wrongly applied and has little to no application today, despite the fact that it is being driven into the ground right and left. Read my blog: “Another Popular Verse Christians Get Wrong.”

Of course, you may see things differently, and you’re definitely invited to share your view. Feel free to let me know what you think!
