God’s Sure Proclamations

God’s Sure Word
Of late, in light of the Presidential Election, in my Bible reading I’ve been taking special notice of that which God has proclaimed about Himself. In this time when those in high places are spewing endless proclamations, I’d much rather hear those the Almighty God issues forth.

It’s hard to put stock in the proclamations of politicians. First, even if sincere, they rarely can enact their proclamations. Second, they are subject to the whims of others and will often compromise. And third, they often lie.

God, however, has the power to enact His proclamations, is subject to the whims of no one, and never lies. Therefore, what He has proclaimed will stand for eternity. It cannot be altered, voted down, or abolished. God’s proclamations stand forever, and those who honor them can rest in their sureness and certainty.

God’s proclamations are not subject to change every four years.

God’s Sure Truth
One of the richest sources of God’s proclamations is the Book of Isaiah, a perfect example being Chapter 45, verses 22-25:

“Turn to Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth;
For I am God, and there is no other.
I have sworn by Myself;
The word has gone out from My mouth in righteousness
And will not turn back,
That to Me every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance.
They will say of Me, ‘Only in the Lord are righteousness and strength.’
People will come to Him,
And all who were angry at Him will be put to shame.
In the Lord all the offspring of Israel
Will be justified and will boast.”

Here’s a brief checklist of the proclamations made above.

1. God can save the soul of perishing men and women.

2. God is unique; there is no other.

3. God’s proclamations issue forth from Him, and are fulfilled every time.

4. There is coming a day when all of humanity will bow down before Him and confess that He alone is God.

5. Those who reject Him will fall.

6. Israel will be redeemed.

God exerts no effort convincing people to trust in Him, nor does He explain why He says what He does. Unlike politicians who must win the minds of the public, God simply proclaims, and it is incumbent upon humanity to accept it. Individuals may choose to reject God’s proclamations, but do so at their own peril.

All that God breathes forth is bathed in “righteousness” and “will not turn back.” Once God proclaims, it is sealed for eternity. By contrast, once a politician proclaims, it often evaporates once exiting his or her lips.

God’s Sure Salvation
More than anything, God has proclaimed to humanity its greatest need: “Turn to Me and be saved …” Though all the “theology” is not laid out here, it can be deduced that in some way the human race apart from God is in great danger, but can be rescued by turning to Him.

God can save because He is “God, and there is no other.” There is a distinct exclusiveness here. If you want to be “saved,” there is only one way – AND ONE WAY ONLY – to attain it: This God to whom “every knee will bow, every tongue will swear allegiance.”

Nothing else on Earth can save the human soul – especially politicians!

God’s Sure Proclamations
In this Election season of proclamations that will never be realized, we have a God whose proclamations are forged in truth, emanate from His eternality, and are fulfilled in righteousness.

God’s proclamations are sure; so sure that you can stake your eternal existence on them. If you have never entrusted your soul to God, then heed His words now: “Turn to Me and be saved.”

A surer proclamation was never made!
