Stop Fearing!
It really gets under my skin when I see believers in the Lord Jesus Christ still lamenting the fact that Donald Trump is no longer President of the United States.
Whether or not the election results were corrupted, a very basic truth stands: If God had wanted Mr. Trump to still be President, he would be President! If there was corruption, do you think God could not have overruled it and placed “his man” where He wanted him.
Of course, he could have. Yet, too many Christians keep bemoaning Mr. Trump’s loss and proclaiming the end of America as we know it. I actually agree. America is done for, but not because Mr. Trump is no longer President.
The sin of our nation has brought about our fall, and we will never rise again. Now that the Democrats hold most of the power, our fall will continue, just a little faster than if the GOP were in power. But make no mistake about it: The President does not make all that much difference regarding the fate of the U.S.
Rather, it is God’s plan for our nation as we draw ever nearer to the end of the age and the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to Planet Earth. God’s judgment is getting ready to fall, and believers should accept this with discernment and boldness – but not with fear, for Heaven’s sake!
What a Passage!
If you are afraid and were to ask me, “Why should I not fear?” – the answer is to be found in Isaiah 40:23-26: Read it and be encouraged!
“[God] brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing. No sooner
are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground,
than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.
‘To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?’ says the Holy One.
Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out
the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.“
What a passage! Christians are always saying, “God is in control,” but can’t off the top of our heads point to a particular verse or passage. Well, here is your passage. If this passage does not scream, GOD IS IN CONTROL, than I don’t know what does!
Note how it is God who “brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.” Name some of the most powerful rulers of the past, where are they now? Dead and buried. Those still living are out of power.
Furthermore, “No sooner are they planted … than God blows on them and they wither.” That sounds like it could apply to Mr. Trump and his brief – though eventful – single term in office. And even if you go back to the 3 preceding Presidents who had 2 terms, their time in office seems just as brief as it is behind us.
God then asks a question, and you who are still lamenting Trump’s loss need to answer it: “To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” The answer is obvious.
If you are a Christian and truly believe God is in control and oversees the rulers of Earth, than stop fearing. Stop lamenting. Stop worrying. Yes, be concerned about some of the things which will soon occur in our nation, but don’t act like people with no hope.
After all, our God is the God of Isaiah 40:23-26, and with Him in control, there is no room for lamenting – be it for Mr. Trump or any other political event!

I am not fearful and I do accept that God is in control, so Biden is in office. What I am lamenting is all of the ungodly orders he is giving and how hard he seems to be making it be a conservative Christian in the United States. I am not losing heart because I know that it means that the time is coming closer for Jesus to return, but I will continue to lament the destruction of our Constitutional rights, including freedom of speech and religion, that we have held so dear since our founding as a nation. I knew Joe Biden would be bad, and he is proving me right. It’s too bad that he calls himself a Christian (Catholic) but acts like he himself is god. All I can say is “Maranatha!”

Timely post with much needed message! There is no backpeddleing here, we are being ripened for judgment. Yes its lamentable but for the sake of God’s Kingdom, let’s turn away from this worldly patriotism! (I tell myself too!) I want to “long for His appearing…”
I hope all is well with you, press on David!

“There is no backpeddleing here, we are being ripened for judgment.” So true, Lisa Beth! All is well with me, and I hope you can say the same!

I’ll be real honest… and it seems that people are more freaked out about losing their free speech online than by anything else. And yes, it’s a bummer if we can’t share the Word online, but if worse comes to worse, we still hold our Bibles and the Lord Jesus in our hearts. Nobody can reach into my heart and take Him from me.
Trump did a lot of good things that people are hardly aware of (no new wars, more severe punishments for animal cruelty/abuse) and that will be missed, but he wasn’t exactly a model Christian, either. Neither is Biden. We should put our hopes in God, not people.
Excellent post! I hope this message reaches a lot of people.

This is what I am saying too! Last year at this time, no one thought Biden would win the Democratic nom let alone the Presidency. I don’t know to what extent whether by appointment or permissible will, all I know is that God has allowed this to happen. We are under judgment. I’m not thrilled to say this but it’s true. Either I can look to God to help me process this or I can look to the world where there is no help to be found. I agree with Yari, “hope this message reaches a lot of people.”

Thank you, Mandy. Yes, I agree with each point you made, especially, “God has allowed this to happen.” I think this is he key.

Good one, David. There are a large number of politically-minded, pro-Trump Christians (including some here at WordPress) who are absolutely enraged over the election results and who now propagate hatred, fear, violence, and rebellion. They are temporally-minded rather than spiritually-minded and are extremely poor representatives of Jesus Christ and the Gospel to unbelievers in this country.

I agree with the premise that our ultimate hope rests with God. As Isaiah 40 expounds, God is in control.
