More Christian Desecration
It doesn’t take much Internet perusal to find examples of Christianity being desecrated. Such was the case this morning as I visited Christian Headlines.

The site’s lead story came as no surprise: “London Pastor Arrested for Sermon on Marriage.” We read:

Last week, a pastor was arrested in London after he delivered a public sermon on the
biblical definition of marriage out of Genesis 1. John Sherwood, who is 71 and the pastor of
a north London church, was arrested April 23 in the center of Uxbridge, London, under the Public Order Act
for making “allegedly homophobic comments,” according to The Daily Mail.[1]

Pastor Sherwood went on to explain that he was not making homophobic comments, but simply teaching biblical truth. For this, he was arrested, though later released.

The second headline reads: “Church Celebrates Drag Queen Sunday.”

The church is Hope United Methodist Church in Bloomington, Ill., which saw fit to do the following:

The church … spotlighted 23-year-old Isaac Simmons, the church’s director of operations
who goes by the name of “Ms. Penny Cost” as a drag queen. The church held a “Drag Sunday” on April 11
in which drag artists sang, prayed and performed. A drag speaker during the service
said the goal was “celebrating and uplifting the voices of drag artistry within the church.”
Drag itself, the speaker said, is “divine.”[2]

What Can I Say?
I suppose this is the part where I’m supposed to wisely opine. But really, what can I say? Any Bible-believing Christian can see how perverse this all is.

Isaiah 5:20 tells us: “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”

This is truly where the world is today. In the world’s eyes, the pastor who preached on biblical marriage was the evil one, while the church which promoted the “drag lifestyle” was regarded as good.

What makes the drag story particularly disturbing is that it came from within the Church. At least the London pastor’s arrest was a case of the world attacking Christianity. The drag situation, however, is an instance of a church – albeit an apostate, debauched one – making an absolute debacle of God and His inspired Word.

Suffice it to say that this is the direction in which the world is heading. The true Word of God will be continually attacked and restricted, while rogue churches will continue to practice a perverted version of Christendom – a version far removed from the mind of Christ as He died on the cross for the sins of humanity.

May we who love the Lord Jesus continue to pray for this dark, lost, and dying world, and may we continue to hold firm to a true Gospel, no matter what it could cost us!
