When the Wicked Days Come

A Matter of Time
Notice the headline says “when” not “if.” Here in the U.S., wicked days are coming. It’s just a matter of when.

Of course, the entire world will experience the ultimate wickedness during Daniel’s 70th Week – the final 7 years of this era of human history. But these things don’t happen overnight; they build over decades.

The political, social, and cultural divides in the States are monumental, and there is no bridge long enough to connect them. Socialism has not only crept its way into the mindset of America, but it has chosen its plot of land, planted its flag, and people are flocking to it.

For now, there is enough Christian influence and good sense to combat it. For now. But “now” won’t last. Socialism will become the rule of the country, and America will never be the same.

I believe it’s a matter of a nation turning its back on God getting what it deserves. If God punished Sodom and Gomorrah for their rampant sins, how can He not do the same with the U.S.?

In some ways, we are worse than Sodom and Gomorrah. At least they could claim they never knew the God of Israel. The U.S. has no such excuse. We were built on faith in God, and are abandoning that foundation with reckless defiance.

Hold Tight
So yes, wicked days are coming, but for believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, God has secured us firmly in His loving hand. The big picture for believers is that no matter what happens to us individually, our souls are safe; when we die, Heaven awaits.

Yet, though knowing this can give us inner peace, it may not necessarily make the wicked days in this life any easier. With this is mind, I want to share with you this wonderful assurance. In the Book of Proverbs, this gem shines out like a beacon of hope and certainty, a guarantee by God that no matter what is to come, He will be in the midst of it with us.

Proverbs 3:25-26 tells us: “Do not be afraid of sudden fear nor of the onslaught of the wicked when it comes; For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught [or snared].”

Notice the phrase “the wicked when it comes.” Wickedness in one form or another is inevitable,  so let’s get to the bottom line: If in November a socialist should win the presidency, remember that God permitted it, was not caught by surprise, and gave our nation exactly what it wanted.

And if what the U.S. wants is a socialist government, that’s what we’ll get. But despite it all, let God’s Word be your joy, comfort, and peace, as He urges you to “not be afraid.” Why is this? Because He is standing beside you, His beloved child, and He promises “to keep your foot from being caught.”

Wicked days are indeed coming, but you will overcome them all through the Savior who has prepared a place for you in His heavenly abode (John 14:2).
